Analysis of Voltage and Current Issues in Solar Panels

2026-04-01

1、 Environmental issues

1. Insufficient lighting

The output power of solar panels is closely related to the radiation they receive. In low light conditions, such as cloudy days or weak morning and evening light, the output power of solar panels will significantly decrease, which may result in situations where there is voltage but weak current or even inability to output current.

2. Abnormal temperature

Both high and low temperatures can affect the output current of solar panels. In high temperature environments, the output voltage of solar cells will decrease, and the current output will also be suppressed to a certain extent; In low-temperature environments, the performance of the battery may not be able to function properly, resulting in abnormal current output.

3. Humidity impact

If the solar panel is exposed to a humid environment for a long time, the wiring on it may become loose or experience electrical corrosion, which can cause current transmission problems and ultimately result in the solar panel having voltage but no current.

2、 Wiring issues

1. Poor contact of connector

If there is a quality problem with the connector between the solar panel and the battery pack, such as looseness or poor contact, it will create obstacles during the current transmission process, causing the current to not be transmitted normally and leading to voltage and current issues.

2. Loose wiring

Loose wiring between solar panels and battery packs can also lead to poor current transmission. Loose wiring can make the circuit connection unstable, affecting the smooth transmission of current and ultimately reducing the efficiency of the solar panel, resulting in a situation where there is voltage but no current.

3、 Obstruction issue

1. The impact of obstructions

The normal operation of solar panels relies on sufficient solar radiation. If the surface of the solar panel is obstructed by leaves, dust, buildings, and other obstructions, it will affect the absorption of solar energy by the solar panel, resulting in a decrease in its output power and even voltage and current.

2. Non matching occlusion

When using multiple solar panels in series or parallel, it should be ensured that their output power matches each other. If there is no matching, the output power difference between each battery board will be significant, which will lead to unstable output power and affect the normal transmission of current, resulting in the phenomenon of voltage but no current.

4、 Component issues

1. Damage or quality issues

Solar panels may be damaged due to external impact, long-term aging, or quality issues during production, such as micro P-N junction damage, macro glass breakage, EVA film yellowing, etc. All of these can lead to insufficient output current or damage to the output circuit, resulting in voltage and current problems.

2. Design issues

If the design of solar panels is not reasonable enough, such as excessive resistance design, it will cause significant energy loss during circuit transmission, resulting in the inability to effectively output current despite the existence of voltage.

summary

The problem of solar panels having voltage but no current involves multiple aspects, including environmental issues, wiring issues, shading issues, and component issues. To ensure that solar panels can fully function, a comprehensive inspection and testing should be conducted before use to ensure that their quality and performance meet the requirements. When problems arise, they can be investigated one by one according to the above aspects, and specific causes can be identified and corresponding solutions can be taken.
